a pluridisciplinary voyage through space and light
DK <qumran> is an interdisciplinary audiovisual series of works that combines live visuals, architecture and music. The show consists in real-time generated visuals and electronic music [live and fixed media]. Music is reproduced through a set of speakers surrounding the audience in order to recreate the spatial feeling of the real spaces.
The documentary explores the pluridisciplinary relationships between music, architecture and visual arts, but also disciplines such as archaeology and enology, putting an special emphasis on history and old books collection.
Dismantling (itself) the time is a cohesive recital conformed by acoustic and electroacoustic pieces for clarinet solo. Centered on the new Spanish musical contemporary scene, the project becomes a sort of representative showcase of different creative proposals by young composers involving new media, as well as pieces by the most currently renowned composers.
The music presented by The DK<projection> in Toranj endeavours to make converge contemporaneity and tradition, dealing masterfully with sound through new technologies. With a deep understanding of space and a ductile treatment of sound, the music by these young Iranian authors unites rationality and emotion at sensitive levels, which are difficult to reach by today´s Western composer.
Founded by the composer Ángel Arranz on one of the world references of historical electronic music and media creation, the Institute of Sonology of The Hague [NL], THE DK <projection> is a independent multi[inter]- disciplinary group whose creative stimulus is the use of technology as a vehicle of musical and artistic transformation.
Specially putting an emphasis on establishing scenic bridges between new avant-garde architecture and music, The DK <projection> explores, within an organic whole, many other media expressions, reinventing new genres that play a role in visual arts, applied technology and sound spatialization, such as algorithmic composition, fixed media, live electronics, live video performance, video installation, sound installation, photography, contemporary dance and documentary film.
Due to its versatility, The DK <projection> adapts to every scenic demands, which embrace different spaces, such as contemporary and electronic music festivals, film festivals, contemporary arts centers, cultural centers, medialabs, industrial spaces, experimental jazz, dance programs and theatrical events.

The WFS speaker system was shown in Festival Sonar 2012, traveling from The Game of Life Foundation – The Hague [NL] to MACBA – Barcelona [ES]. The system was installed in a space devoted to the artist Rita McBride’s work, and the participation included concerts and lectures during three days as a sort of ‘sample board’ of the creative possibilities of the system.
