Don José María Barruso passed away

We start the day with very sad news. My dear and very first maestro, Don José María Barruso Rojo, passed away at 91 years old.

Don José María taught me with infinite patience all the basics you have to know about music, but more importantly, to love this profession. Thanks to him, I learned at a very early age to be a professional from the very first minute. He was my first and strongest guidance and he made me the two most precious gifts one person can give to another: knowledge and time.

I had the opportunity many years ago to compose a band piece dedicated to him, entitled Peñafiel de Castilla. Also, I did an interview in a local magazine, which I reproduce here.
