Gottfried Michael Koenig has passed away
Gottfried Michael Koenig passed away on the 31th December. He was a universal reference for many sonologists and composers along the world during decades. I had the luck of meeting him on several occasions, first as a lecturer at the Institute of Sonology, later in his residency in Culemborg. He was the most intelligent person and the keenest thinker I have never met.
Seven year ago, I posted one of my encounters with Koenig, which generated the publication of two articles on him and his music. You may want to inspect them here.
In spite of our considerable age difference (fifty exactly), he always treated me as a colleague and made me feel a friend. He was such a generous, enormous person. It will resonate within me as an adagio the phrase forever: Given the rules, find the music. Such a sad day. Farewell, dear Mick!
